We are all about you here! Sun Dental Co. has been established here in Ballard with the goal of caring for your dental needs in what we think could be the best way possible.

The previous doctor, Rick Chavez and his dental practice, Rainbow Seattle Dental at this location had practiced since year 1979. So, the clinic retains more than 40 years of dental practice history in it. Sun Dental Co. is excited to continue the legacy and serve our patients for their dental care needs.

Although our dated dental office building shows signs of wear and aging, the clinic is now in the process of being equipped with the latest equipment and technology so that we can provide you with advanced and modern dental care.

Cleaning & Routine Exams
With our cleaning and check-up service, we aim to make sure your mouth stays healthy. Periodic cleaning and check-up go a long way to help you keep your mouth healthy and help you lessen unnecessary dental appointments. Dental cleaning appointment might be the last thing in your mind with your busy life. We will try our best to make your stay here as comfortable as possible!
Periodontal Care
Gum disease is the leading cause of premature tooth loss in America as population age. If you have been noticing symptoms like puffy and swollen gums, bleeding when brushing or flossing, or halitosis (persistent bad breath), you may have gum disease. Proper care, such as deep cleanings (also called scaling & root planing), is the best way to address early stages of gum disease and restore your periodontal health.
Root Canal Therapy
A root canal will relieve the pain and discomfort of a severe toothache, preserve your natural tooth shell, and postpone the need for an extraction for many years. We use the latest high-tech root canal equipment that automatically makes a reverse turn at the end of the root canal, making the procedure less complicated and comfortable to our patients.

Dental Crowns
Crown treatment has to be reserved for certain cases such as tooth with root canal treatment, damaged or cracked tooth, heavily decayed tooth, aesthetically compromised tooth and some more. Since the enamel and dentin of a tooth can't be regrown, Dr. Sun believes that crown treatment should be provided only when it's really necessary and it should be done very conservatively.

Dental Fillings
We can't turn back time and bring back your natural tooth before cavity. However, we can carefully remove cavity and try to restore the tooth close to its original shape using composite. Composite fillings are made of strong, tooth-colored dental resin and are widely used by dentists for filling cavities.
Tooth Extractions
Extraction may be required for teeth that are too damaged or decayed to be saved with a treatment such as a root canal. Our doctor has very soft hands and provide optional nitrous oxide that might make your extraction somewhat close to other non-invasive dental procedures.
Full & Part Dentures
Partial dentures clip onto your healthy teeth and support one or more false teeth, restoring the aesthetics and function of your smile after tooth loss. Full dentures fit directly over your gums, restoring the entire upper, lower or both arches of teeth. Both full & partial dentures allow for fast treatment time, eliminate the risk of teeth shifting, and restore your natural smile and bite. We also offer wide range of denture services such as flexible partial dentures, and implant supported over dentures.
Dental Implants
When it comes to treating single or multiple missing teeth, there is no better treatment than dental implant(s). However, depending on the quality and shape of the bone of the missing tooth area, the outcome of implant treatment can be drastically different from one to another. That's why preserving the bone after tooth loss is so important as well as early treatment of tooth loss. Our doctor is very focused on preservation of bone during extraction with the possible implant treatment in the future in mind.

After graduating from Columbia dental school in New York and working as an associate for 2 years in New Jersey. We, family of 3 and a half, who are myself, my wife and my daughter and a corgi, relocated to Texas and ran a successful dental practice in a rural part of south Texas for 10 years. Leaving the growing practice and hard-earned trust from many of my patients behind, my family and I decided to relocate to Seattle to live what this beautiful nature and cool weather of Puget sound area can offer.

Now that my families nestled in this beautiful Washington state as new transplants, I searched for a community where I can grow, serve and build the relationship like the one I had in my previous practice. Ballard has been at the top of my list ever since I started my practice search. I am very happy and excited to be part of this beautiful community. And I can't wait to meet you in person and build what could be a long-term friendship with you.
